Balluff BNI PNT-502-105-Z015 IO-Link Master PROFINET, 8 Ports (BNI006A) — product card

Overview

The Balluff BNI PNT-502-105-Z015 (order code BNI006A) is a field-mounted PROFINET IO-Link master in a die-cast zinc housing with eight M12 ports: four IO-Link Class A ports and four Class B ports for devices that need separate actuator power. All ports can also serve as digital inputs or outputs, giving up to 16 I/O channels when IO-Link is not used. The 2-port Ethernet switch supports line and MRP ring topology, and the integrated web server shows port diagnostics and lets IO-Link devices be parameterised. The 7/8-inch power connection delivers up to 9 A for actuators. It is widely used in automotive body shops, press lines and packaging machines as the IO-Link hub of a machine section.

Key features

  • 8 × IO-Link ports: 4 Class A + 4 Class B (separate actuator supply); all usable as DI/DO
  • PROFINET IO with 2-port switch, MRP, LLDP; GSDML for TIA Portal
  • Die-cast zinc housing IP67, -5…+70 °C; 7/8 in power 2 × 9 A
  • Integrated web server for diagnostics and IO-Link device configuration
  • IO-Link 1.1, COM1–3; port-level diagnostics; firmware updatable

Typical applications

  • Body-shop and press-line sensor/actuator connection
  • Packaging machines with IO-Link valve terminals and sensors
  • Decentralised I/O replacing cabinet terminals
  • RFID and smart-light integration via IO-Link

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Class A and Class B ports?

Class B ports provide a separately switchable auxiliary supply on pins 2 and 5 for actuators such as valve terminals or hubs with high current; Class A ports supply sensors from the main 24 V. Four of each gives flexibility on one master.

Can I configure IO-Link devices without the PLC?

Yes. The web server loads the device IODD and lets you read and write parameters, which is useful during commissioning and for sensor replacement with data storage.

Is the BNI006A available from stock, and what is the lead time?

Typically 1–3 weeks from Balluff regional stock. We confirm with the quotation.

Send us a part number, a BOM or a drawing.

Our engineers reply within one business day with availability, lead time and alternatives where they save you cost or time.
