Overview
The VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 is Danfoss's dedicated drive for water and wastewater applications from 0.25 kW to 1.4 MW. Its application features cover what a pump station needs without a PLC: cascade control of up to six pumps, flow compensation of the setpoint, sleep mode with boost, dry-run and end-of-curve detection, pipe-fill mode to avoid water hammer, and a deragging function for wastewater pumps. Energy monitoring and the Smart Logic Controller add sequencing and alarms. The drive is available in IP20, IP21, IP55 and IP66 enclosures with optional RFI filters and harmonic filters; the example type code is a 15 kW 400 V IP55 unit. Modbus RTU and BACnet are standard; PROFINET and EtherNet/IP are options.

Frequently asked questions
Can the FC 202 control several pumps without a PLC?
Yes. The built-in cascade controller runs up to six pumps (fixed-speed via contactors or variable-speed with additional drives) on a pressure or flow setpoint with lead/lag alternation.
What is deragging?
A function for wastewater pumps that reverses and cycles the impeller on a schedule or when a torque increase is detected, clearing rags before they block the pump.
