Overview
The ifm SM6000 is a compact magnetic-inductive flow meter for conductive liquids (≥20 µS/cm) such as water, coolant and cleaning solutions in machine cooling circuits, washing systems and dosing lines. With G3/4 process connection it measures 0.1 to 25 l/min with ±0.8 % accuracy, and besides flow it reports total volume and medium temperature. Outputs are configurable: 4–20 mA analog, pulse, two switching outputs or IO-Link 1.1, where all values and diagnostics are transmitted digitally. The display with four pushbuttons shows the flow in l/min or m³/h, and the PEEK/stainless-steel wetted parts handle most industrial liquids. The SM series covers G1/4 to DN50 in sizes SM2000 to SM8000.
Key features
- Magnetic-inductive measurement, no moving parts, for conductive liquids ≥ 20 µS/cm
- Range 0.1–25 l/min (G3/4), accuracy ±0.8 % MW ±0.5 % MEW; temperature measured
- Outputs: 4–20 mA, pulse, 2 switching (PNP/NPN), IO-Link 1.1 — all in one device
- Display with 4 pushbuttons; totaliser; simulation and diagnostics
- Wetted parts PEEK, 316L electrodes; -10…+70 °C medium; 16 bar; IP67
Typical applications
- Cooling-water monitoring on welding machines and spindles
- Dosing and mixing of water-based chemicals
- Washing and CIP systems
- Water consumption measurement per machine

Frequently asked questions
Can the SM6000 measure deionised water?
No. Magnetic-inductive meters need conductivity of at least 20 µS/cm. For DI or ultrapure water use the ifm SU Puresonic ultrasonic series or a paddle-wheel meter.
Do I need straight pipe before the meter?
Only a short inlet section of about 5 × DN is recommended; the compact design is tolerant of bends and valves nearby.
Is the SM6000 available from stock, and what is the lead time?
Typically 1–2 weeks from ifm regional stock. We confirm with the quotation.
