- IP67
- IO-Link
- Class 1 laser

Overview
The ifm O5D100 is a laser time-of-flight sensor in the O5 housing that measures distance from 30 mm to 2 m to almost any surface regardless of colour, and shows the distance in millimetres on its display. It can be used as a diffuse reflection sensor with precise background suppression at any distance up to 2 m, or as a distance sensor via IO-Link; two switching outputs (PNP/NPN selectable) and a window function are available. The visible Class 1 red laser spot simplifies alignment and the robust housing with M12 connector is IP67 rated. Typical uses are object detection on conveyors and in warehouses, level detection in containers and position monitoring of carriages.
Key features
- Time-of-flight measurement 0.03–2 m on dark, bright and glossy surfaces
- Display in mm; set point adjustment by pushbuttons; window and hysteresis modes
- 2 × switching outputs PNP/NPN selectable, IO-Link 1.1 for process data and parameters
- Class 1 visible red laser; response 2 ms; M12 connector; IP67
- Housing 46 × 46 × 20 mm, mounting compatible with O5 photoelectric series
Typical applications
- Object detection on conveyors and in AS/RS systems
- Level detection in silos and bins
- Position monitoring of carriages and lifts
- Stack height and roll diameter measurement via IO-Link

Frequently asked questions
Can the O5D100 output the measured distance?
Yes, over IO-Link: the process data contains the distance in mm, and an IO-Link master makes it available to the PLC. Without IO-Link the sensor provides two switching outputs with adjustable set points.
Does it work on black or shiny targets?
Yes. Time-of-flight measurement depends on the travel time of the light rather than reflected intensity, so black rubber and polished metal are detected at the same distance.
Is the O5D100 available from stock, and what is the lead time?
Typically 1–2 weeks from ifm regional stock. We confirm with the quotation.
