Overview
The ifm AL1100 is a field-mounted IO-Link master with four IO-Link Class A ports connecting sensors and actuators to a PROFINET controller, plus an IoT Core interface that lets an IT system read the same sensor data in parallel via JSON or MQTT without touching the PLC. Each M12 port can run as IO-Link, digital input or output, and the integrated 2-port Ethernet switch supports line topology. The IP67 housing mounts directly on the machine, reducing cabinet I/O and cabling; the LR DEVICE software configures ports and sensor parameters, and moneo or any OPC UA/MQTT broker consumes the IoT data. The AL1xxx family includes 8-port versions and variants for EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and Modbus TCP.

Can the AL1100 send data to IT without going through the PLC?
Yes. The IoT Core interface exposes process data and sensor parameters via JSON/REST or MQTT in parallel to the PROFINET connection, so condition monitoring does not affect PLC program or cycle time.
Do I need a special PROFINET licence or software?
No. The GSDML file is imported into TIA Portal or any PROFINET engineering tool; LR DEVICE (free) configures the IO-Link ports and sensor parameters.
