Overview
The Turck FCS-G1/2A4-AP8X-H1141 is a compact calorimetric flow monitor: a stainless-steel probe with a G1/2 thread inserted into the pipe detects whether liquid is flowing, switching a PNP output when flow drops below the taught threshold. The sensor has no moving parts, is independent of pipe size and is used mainly for cooling-water monitoring on welding guns, spindles and lasers, and for dry-run protection of pumps. Setup is by teach-in with the potentiometer or keys, and the LED chain shows the flow relative to the switch point. Versions for gases, with 4–20 mA output (FCS-...-LIX) and with integrated temperature measurement are available in the FCS/FCI family.

Does the FCS measure the flow rate?
The standard AP8X version is a flow monitor: it switches above or below a taught flow velocity. For an analog flow signal choose the LIX version, or a magnetic-inductive meter for accurate volume flow.
How long does it take to react when flow stops?
Calorimetric sensors respond within a few seconds; the exact time depends on the medium and the difference between set point and actual flow. For pump protection this is normally sufficient.
