Overview
The Keyence LR-Z series is a self-contained CMOS laser sensor that detects by distance rather than reflected light intensity, so it ignores target colour, gloss and background. The LR-ZB250CP has a 50–250 mm detection range, a Class 1 visible laser spot that is easy to align, and a PNP switching output; setup is a single press on the target (one-touch calibration) with distance shown on the display. The stainless-steel housing with glass window is IP67/IP69K rated and withstands washdown. Typical uses are presence detection of transparent trays, black rubber parts on black conveyors, and level or double-sheet detection where photoelectric sensors are unstable. The LR-ZB90CB (90 mm) and LR-ZB250C3P (cable) complete the series.

How is the LR-Z different from a normal photoelectric sensor?
A photoelectric sensor switches on reflected light intensity, which changes with colour and gloss. The LR-Z measures the distance to the target with a CMOS array, so a black rubber part and a white plastic part at the same distance give the same result.
