Overview
The Keyence GL-R series is a robust Type 4 safety light curtain (IEC 61496-1/-2, PL e / SIL3) with a rugged aluminium housing rated to IP65/67 and a mounting system that tolerates misalignment. The GL-R24H has 25 mm resolution for hand detection, 24 beams over a 480 mm protective height and an operating range up to 10 m; it includes muting, blanking, EDM, interlock and a series-connection function so multiple curtains run from one controller without extra hardware. Clear LED indicators along the housing show beam status and alignment, and the optional GL-RP power box or direct wiring to a safety relay such as the Omron G9SE completes the circuit. The GL-R family covers 14 mm (finger) to 45 mm (body) resolutions and heights to 2,000 mm.

Frequently asked questions
Does the GL-R need an external controller for muting?
No. Muting, blanking and EDM are built into the curtain and set with the configuration software or the terminal; only muting sensors and a safety relay or safety PLC are needed to complete the circuit.
Can I connect several GL-R curtains in series?
Yes. Up to three sets can be cascaded with a single OSSD output pair, which saves safety relay inputs for L-shaped or multi-side guarding.
